Oracle to release new tools for Java, SOA and Web 2.0 application development

Updates Fusion Middleware 11g Release 1 components

Oracle has revealed the planned future releases of JDeveloper11g, Application Development Framework (ADF)11g, WebLogic Suite11g, SOA Suite11g and WebCenter Suite11g, components of its Fusion Middleware.

The JDeveloper has added support for Maven, JavaScript Object Notation Language (JSON), Facelets, UML 2.0 and Eclipse key mappings. It features new ADF Mobile Client, supporting native development for BlackBerry and Windows mobile applications; Task connector and BugZilla connector for the Oracle team productivity center; improved HTTP analyser with support for RESTful services and WS-Policy; three-way merge for offline database definitions. It also features new visual editors for ADF contextual events and a new log file analyser.

Oracle Application Development Framework (ADF) is an end-to-end meta-framework for the Java EE platform that enables developers to build enterprise applications. Its features include new user interface (UI) components; new look for the ADF Faces components; improvements to UI components, which includes a simplification of the drag-and-drop framework and enhancements to the text editor and calendar components; improvements to the bean data control used for POJOs and EJBs; and new animations for graphs and other UI components.

Oracle WebCenter Suite enables both developers and business users to build, deploy and evolve composite applications and portals.

The company said that the new features in the WebCenter Suite include the ability to embed communities, team sites, and enterprise 2.0 services like tagging, linking, discussions, and presence directly in their Oracle ADF applications.

Other features include an updated Rest architecture and APIs that allow enterprise 2.0 services to be integrated with any type of application, website, or language like Java, .NET, PHP, Perl, and Ruby; content presenter, which enables business users to personalise how content is displayed in their websites or portals without requiring developer resources; and integration with common desktop productivity and collaboration platforms, such as Oracle Beehive and Microsoft Exchange.

New features in the Oracle WebLogic Suite include toplink grid, which allows integration with Oracle Coherence;WebLogic SmartUpgrade, which provides insight and automation capabilities for Java EE applications to WebLogic Server.

The company said that its SOA Suite helps developers design, assemble, deploy and manage agile and adaptable business applications. Its new features include Monitor Express Dashboards, which enables developers to generate Business Activity Monitoring (BAM) dashboards for their applications and provide single integrated view to track Key Performance Indicators (KPI) in real-time and promote operational efficiency; and web-based SOA Composer, which allows business analysts to address business changes, using web browser.

Other features include streamlined human workflow task editor, planned new certifications which include Apple Safari, Microsoft SQL, IBM MQ 7.0 and Internet Explorer 8; and BAM Data Control for Oracle ADF.
