The installation supports the expansion of RTE Transmission Network’s network monitoring center in Dublin, Ireland.
RTE Transmission Network needed to increase the number of displays it could monitor simultaneously in its network monitoring center to support additional upcoming services, such as DTT and DAB. To achieve this, RTE Transmission Network chose to replace the existing infrastructure, a combination of TV screens and VDU monitors, with a multiviewer solution built around four Predator II HD32 multiviewers that are driving four 57-inch displays. This setup allows RTE Transmission Network to monitor up to 128 sources and provides a combination of redundancy and scalable display capacity.
The multiviewer solution is used to display off-air analog TV and DTT services from some of the RTE Transmission Network transmitter sites, as well as to visualize spectrum analyzer and digital PPM information.
According to Harris, the Predator II multiviewer is an auto-sensing solution for control and monitoring applications that require a flexible architecture. It can be used in smaller control room settings as a standalone system for four to 32 channels. In medium to large control rooms, multiple Predator II multiviewers can be combined as part of a distributed solution. Available in a 1RU or 2RU enclosure, Predator II is well-suited to master control, outside broadcast and production environments, added Harris.
