IONA TEAMS WITH RAPTOR FOR CORBA-IIOP COMMERCIAL FIREWALL

By CBR Staff Writer

Irish object request broker company Iona Technologies Plc has announced an agreement with Raptor Systems Inc to integrate its Orbix Wonderwall security system with security software outfit Raptor’s Eagle family of firewall products. The bundling of the products will result in what Iona claims to be the world’s first commercial implementation of the Corba common object request broker and IIOP Internet Inter-Orb protocol to enable the secure transmission of IIOP packets across a firewall. The introduction of Raptor’s Eagle products to Wonderwall will mean that Corba developers and users can implement a firewall product that will access full Corba-based Internet applications. The agreement coincides with the general release of Wonderwall version 1.1 from Iona.
