INTERSHOP STRIKES UP E-COMMERCE PARTNERSHIP WITH OPEN MARKET

By CBR Staff Writer

Electronic mall software developer Intershop Communications Inc has signed an agreement with fellow electronic commerce software developer Open Market Inc, of Cambridge, Massachusetts. The two, who have worked together in the past, plan to jointly market their software to telecoms companies and commerce service providers, internet service providers and value added network companies that host commerce servers for third parties. Open Market develops electronic transaction monitoring software, called Transact, and Intershop will develop tools for integrating Transact into its mall server software. The two companies are also going to share customers, and sell each others products to existing customers. Intershop, the East German company which has set up its US headquarters in Burlingame, California, has also signed a UK deal to resell its mall software with the international internet service provider PSINet, and has already signed 50 other service providers worldwide, including America Online Inc, Deutsche Telekom AG and EUnet International BV.
