Cullinet Software Inc is set to announce support for Unix System V in November, users attending the Cullinet User Week in St Louis, Missouri were told last week. Vice-president John Landry revealed that a Unix version of Cullinet’s IDMS/SQL database management system would be available early next year. According to Landry, Cullinet applications will eventually be capable of accessing data from any database supporting SQL: first on the cards is Oracle Corp’s Oracle, scheduled for April next year. The aim of Cullinet’s Enterprise Computing strategy is to provide the company’s database, application and computer-aided software engineering products on the gamut of machines from micros to departmental systems and mainframes.
