COREL SUED OVER IMAGE OF FILM STAR HEDY LAMARR

By CBR Staff Writer

Amidst all its other troubles, Corel Corp is now facing a lawsuit from former movie star Hedy Lamarr over an image of the actress used on software packages. Lamarr, now 84, says she did not give permission for the use of the image, which has appeared on various Corel software packages and user manuals since 1996. Corel began using the computer generated image as the result of a contest it held for users of its graphics package. The suit seeks $5m as a share of the profits generated with the help of the image, the AP newswire said.
