It’s both an exciting and challenging time for the social housing sector. While organisations face ever increasing demands on their time and budgets, we need to continue to push for progress in really engaging with residents and in ensuring the sustainability of affordable homes.
The sector is placing greater importance on the resident voice, encouraging people to develop a sense of ownership and contribute to the future of their housing organisation. This is evidenced in the increased volume of complaints to the Housing Ombudsman and legal disrepair claims, but also in our new resident survey. We found that the vast majority were comfortable sharing home truths – people want to have their say.
