Improve PC app performance, battery charging, and end-user experiences with Dell Optimizer
Artificial intelligence (AI) has an image problem—only 9 percent of Americans believe AI will cause more good than harm. This is inconsistent with the reality of AI and machine learning, which is already improving our lives with real-time traffic and weather maps, voice recognition, and recommendation algorithms. Dell Optimizer is AI-based optimization software that, like the AI mentioned above, has the potential to make life better. With the user’s permission, a collection of Dell™ Optimizer features learn device behavior patterns and dynamically configure the appropriate system settings to improve the end-user experience. Our technicians ran industry-standard benchmarks that revealed Dell Optimizer application and network optimization features improved system responsiveness on a Dell Latitude™ 9430 laptop and a Dell OptiPlex™ 7400 all-in-one (AIO) desktop. For the Latitude 9430 laptop, we also determined that the ExpressCharge™ feature reduced battery recharging times, the Intelligent Audio feature reduced background noise during a Zoom call, and the presence detection settings worked like a charm. Designing the Ideal Digital Work Experience for the Next Generation of Innovators
This eBook discusses user expectations for their digital work experience (i.e., experiences related to devices, collaboration tools, applications, and hybrid work scenarios employees have access to in the course of doing their jobs). In particular, this eBook explores differences in the attitudes and preferences observed between different generations of workers. These differences were quantified by a large-scale global survey of knowledge workers, IT decision makers, and HR stakeholders. When you read this eBook, you will: • Learn how preferences related to devices differ among end-users by demographics, including the sustainability of the devices they use, the desire for user input on device specifications, and work styles preferred (i.e., in-office versus hybrid), among other topics. • Understand why it is critical for organizations to adjust to these preferences to win the war for talent. • Finally, see that while differences exist, shifting digital work strategies to cater to younger workers will resonate broadly and, ultimately, improve the experience for all workers. Sustainability Starts Here: Accelerating Sustainable IT Programs With As-A-Service Models
IT sustainability is a priority but not yet a core capability for most firms. In November 2021, Dell commissioned Forrester Consulting to evaluate how companies can leverage as-a-service models to achieve sustainability goals. Forrester conducted an online survey with 502 decision-makers in sustainability at global companies to explore this topic. Respondents said they believe bridging the gap between establishing and accomplishing IT sustainability goals requires a new class of specialized infrastructure-as-a-service (IaaS) provider. Nearly three in four respondents said their firm needs the assistance of a third-party partner to achieve its sustainability goals. And although nearly four in five said their firm has a solid sustainability plan featuring a wide-ranging set of cost-saving and carbon-reduction initiatives, fewer than half said their firm is on track to meet its goals. Respondents said the as-a-service model aids in sustainability and that it could provide their firms with multiple advantages, including: • Reducing sustainability-related management costs (40%). • Reducing overall e-waste generation (45%). • Lowering the cost of managing end-of-life equipment (39%).
