Yik Yak is a location-specific social media app.

By Vinod

Yik Yak is a social media app that connects people within a certain area.

Users are allowed to send anonymous messages that can be viewed only by those in the local vicinity, defined in the app as a five-mile radius. The app uses the smartphone’s location setting to determine who receives messages.

It works as a digital bulletin board, with users who sign on seeing the most recent comments.

They are able to post responses and give comments up or down votes.
