Founded in 2004, Vimeo is a video sharing website that allows users to upload, share, and view videos.

Considered the first video sharing site to support high-definition (2007) it attracts more than 100 million unique visitors a month and more than 22 million registered users.

Fifteen percent of the sites traffic comes from mobile devices and in 2013 it accounted for 0.11% of all Internet bandwidth.

Since its creation it has gone through a few changes, for example in 2008 it was revealed that the site would no longer allow gaming videos, partly due to the unusually long duration of gaming videos which it said was holding back transcoder wait times.
