Vevo is a video hosting service that was created as a joint venture between Sony Music and Universal Music.

Launched in 2009 and based in New York City, Vevo hosts videos from record labels Sony and Universal, with Warner Music Group joining Vevo in 2016.

The goal of Vevo was to be a streaming service for music videos, similar to the streaming service Hulu which shows movies and TV shows after they air.

In addition to gaining revenue from advertising, it also offers a merchandise store and referral links to purchase viewed songs on Amazon Music and iTunes.

On what does Adele beat Taylor swift to #1?

In 2013 Vevo launched Vevo TV, an advertising-supported Internet television channel that runs 24 hours a day and features blocks of music videos and specials. This channel is only available to users in North America and Germany.

The video site shows edited content, so things like profanity are removed.

Currently the most viewed video in a 24 hour period is Hello by Adele which recorded 27.7 million views. Second place is Bad Blood by Taylor Swift with 20.1 million and Nicki Minaj’s Anaconda is in third place with 19.6 million.
