What is Tidal?

Stylised as TIDAL, Tidal is a music streaming service which users pay a subscription fee in order to access. Tidal provides lossless audio, HD videos and curated editorial to an estimated 4.2 million paying subscribers, as of July 2016.

Offering over 25 million songs and 85,000 music videos, Tidal is was bought by Jay Z’s Project Panther company for $56.2 million, changing ownership from Aspiro who fiurst launched the service in 2014.

Tidal operates an artist-owned model, with the service not only owned by Jay Z, but other music stars such as Beyonce, Kanye West, Madonna, Usher, Chris Martin, Calvin Harris, and deadmau5, among others.
