What is telematics?

Ensures safety on the road.

By Vinod

Telematics is an interdisciplinary field which includes electrical engineering, computer science, road transportation and telecommunications.

The word is a translation of the French word ‘‘telematique’’, coined by Simon Nora and Alain Minc in 1978 when sending a report to the French government regarding an upsurge of computers in society.

It refers to the transfer of long distance transmission of computerised information.
