What is telecoms?

Find out what telecoms is.

By James Nunns

Telecoms, a shortening of the word telecommunications, is the exchange of information by electronic means.

Telecommunication is the transmission of signs, writings, images, and sounds or intelligence of any nature by wire, radio, optical or other means.

Modern use of telecoms typically revolves around telephone networks, radio of television, and the Internet.

Telecoms has played a significant role in social relationships and now the majority of modern life seems to rely on it in one way or another.
