What is spyware?

If you are not careful, software may extract information about your online activities.

By Alexander Sword

Spyware is a form of software which secretly collects information from a user’s computer and transmits it to a third party.

This usually means monitoring activity, such as websites visited, programmes used or files accessed.

Spyware can feed this information to unscrupulous advertisers, who can use it to try and send you targeted advertising based on your preferences.
