Qualcomm is a manufacturer of wireless telecoms products.

The company was founded in 1985 and now has 27,000 employees. Qualcomm processors have been used in many popular brands of smartphones, including LG, Xiaomi and Microsoft.

It was recently announced that Qualcomm is to buy NXP Semiconductor for around $38 billion. The acquisition of NXP Semiconductor will expand the reach of Qualcomm’s semiconductor portfolio.

Qualcomm also recently signed a deal with Microsoft to partner to create a version of Windows 10 which will run on mobile computing devices powered by Snapdragon processors.

Qualcomm is led by CEO Steven Mollenkopf. It derives the majority of its profit from its wireless portfolio, with patents licensed to the mobile industry.

Recently it was announced that Qualcomm is to buy NXP Semiconductor for around $38 billion.

The combined company is expected to have annual revenues of upwards of $30bn.
