What is piracy?

Nothing to do with pirates.

By Vinod

In computing terms, piracy is a criminal offense in which software content is illegally copied or distributed.

Piracy takes place without the consent of the publisher whose work is essentially used by others for personal gains despite having no attachment or ownership of the content.

Piracy can result in a loss of revenue for the publisher as their publication is not being circulated legitimately.

License agreements are usually included when a customer buys a product so that copyright infringement is cracked down upon.
