Orange, formerly France Telecom and formerly Orange S.A., is a French telecoms company privatised in 1988.

Orange was created as a brand when Hutchinson Whampoa acquired a controlling stake in Microtel Communications. It launched as a mobile brand in the UK before later being combined with T-Mobile to create EE in 2010.

EE is now part of the BT Group, with the acquisition being completed in 2015.

In 2000, France Telecom acquired Orange. The mobile operations of both companies were merged before in 2006 Orange became the primary brand used by the company for all of its operations.

The company employs 275,000 people and has operations worldwide.

Services provided by the company in France include mobile and internet. Orange Business Services, which operates worldwide, provides IT and communications services to the business market. This company is based in Amsterdam and is a subsidiary of Orange S.A..
