ooVoo is a video chat and instant messaging app.

ooVoo was released in 2007 and can be used on Microsoft Windows, Windows Phone, Mac OS X, Android, iOS and Facebook.

The service is similar to Microsoft’s Skype, with registered users able to communicate via free instant messaging, voice and video chat.

ooVoo also offers conferencing software which allows video and audio calls for up to 12 users, as well as desktop sharing and calls to landline and mobile phones.

How many people use ooVoo?

Clayton Mathile, an Ohio entrepreneur, investor and philanthropist, founded ooVoo in 2006, with the official release coming the following year.

Claiming the title as the world’s largest, independent video chat and messaging app, the company further claims to have over 150 million registered users.
