Nougat, or in its full name Android Nougat, is Google’s latest version of its mobile operating system.

The Nougat software is the seventh version of the operating system and was firstly previews ahead og Google’s I/O conference in March 2016. At the time, the OS was named Android N Developer Preview.

The second preview of the system was unveiled in April.

During the I/O conference in May, Google unveiled more about the new version, also releasing a third preview, this time a beta preview.

In June 2016, a fourth preview was released and Google announced that N was for Nougat.

The new OS will be simpler and safer, and might also be Google’s biggest VR bet in mobile to date.

Included in the second preview, the software includes "VR helper services" buried in the Apps menu, according to Ars Technica.

Two apps included in the preview are named "VR Listener" and "VR Helper". They are located in the Android's settings menu, under apps.

A preview of the VR Helper screen shows that users will be able to access a list of apps to be run as a VR service.

The hidden apps also include permission warnings that tell the user a certain app "will be able to run when you are using applications in virtual reality mode". This also suggests Google is creating a new mode for devices, the VR mode.
