What is NAT?

It has helped extend the life of IPv4.

By James Nunns

Network address translation, or NAT, is a method of remapping one IP address space into another by modifying network address information in internet protocol (IP) packet headers.

This is done while they are in transit across a traffic routing device.

The main use of NAT is to limit the number of public IP address an organisation must use, this is done for both economic and security reasons.
