Midori can either refer to a web browser or operating system.

As an operating system, Midori was the code name given by Microsoft for a managed code operating system which was being developed alongside Microsoft research.

The research project reportedly started in 2003, with the aim to create an operating system in which the kernel, applications and device drivers were all written in managed code.

Featuring sandboxed applications for security and designed for concurrency, Midori was discontinued in 2015 although many concepts and features of the OS were integrated into other Microsoft projects.
