Micro Focus is a software provider based in the UK.

The company was founded in 1976 and initially was focused on business-oriented computer programming languages, particularly COBOL.

In 2014, Micro Focus merged with the US-based Attachmate Group. It is now a single company which operates two product portfolios.

The Micro Focus portfolio consists of identity access and security solutions, COBOL development and mainframe solutions, development and IT operations management tools, host connectivity solutions and collaboration and networking solutions.

The SUSE portfolio includes Enterprise Linux, OpenStack private cloud, software-defined storage and other IT infrastructure management and optimisation solutions. SUSE Linux is a computer operating system built on the open source Linux kernel.

On 7 September 2016, it was announced that Micro Focus would merge with Hewlett Packard Enterprise’s software business segment.

Micro Focus is headquartered in Newbury.
