Lyft is an American transportation company that is based in San Francisco.
Based in San Francisco, Lyft was launched in June 2012 by Logan Green and John Zimmer.
Lyft is basically a mobile phone app that facilitates peer-to-peer ridesharing that connects passengers who need a ride with drivers who have a car.
The company now operated in over 200 US cities and is considered to be a rival of Uber.
To use Lyft a rider must download the app to their iOS or Android based phone, enter a valid phone number, and enter in a form of payment.
Could Lyft be self-driving in the future?
When a passenger wants a ride they can open the app and request a ride from a nearby driver. Once this ride is confirmed then the app will show the driver’s name, their ratings by previous passengers, and what car they are driving.
