What is Linkbait?

A way of increasing the reach of online content.

By Vinod

Linkbait is content that is created to entice internet users into creating a hyperlink for a particular site.

As sites with more in-bound links are noticed more by search engine algorithms, the creator of the linkbait will do this in order to bolster the visibility of the website on search engines such as Google.

The hyperlink can direct online viewers to either an entire document from the website or a specific element. Often, a linkbait can be found on social media sites such as Facebook and Twitter as a way of promoting a site.
