Kerberos is a protocol used to authenticate service requests between trusted hosts on a non-secure network.
Kerberos uses tickets to allow the client and the server to verify each other’s identity.
The user’s proof of identity is encrypted with a secret key for the service requested. As long as the ticket is valid, the user can access the requested service.
The ticket is refreshed when the user signs on to the computer.
