What is intranet?

Every company should have one.

Intranet is an internal and private enterprise network that allows employees to share and receive internal information about the business.

It is based on TCP/IP protocols and it is protected by a firewall to prevent unauthorised access to the network.

Intranets started to be first used in the early 1990s. The technology became widely adopted once in 1996, Microsoft launched a free web server.
