What is GE?

General Electric (GE) is an American multinational company, which operates through many segments such as, Oil and Gas, Healthcare, Aviation and Software Development.

The company was founded in 1982 following the merger of Edison General Electric Company and Thomson-Houston Electric Company thus creating General Electric.

In 2012 the company was listed as the forth-largest in the world among the Forbes Global 2000.

GE Power, develops advanced technologies to help solve some of the world’s most complex challenges related to water availability and quality. For example, the company has created products related to dust control, reverse osmosis and more.

What are GE’s subsidiaries?

The subsidiary businesses powered by General Electric include, GE Aviation, GE Capital, GE Digital, GE Energy Connections, GE Healthcare, GE Lighting, GE Oil & Gas, GE Power, GE Renewable Energy and GE Transportation.

The company is also helping to pave the way with 3D printing. In 2015, it printed the world’s first operational jet engine, which was GE’s first functioning prototype and also expected to open doors to 3D printing.

With over $27 billion in its 2014 revenue, it serves customers in more than 125 countries.
