What is encoding?

Find out about this way of communicating information.

By Vinod

In computer terms, encoding is a way of formulating characters i.e. numbers, letters and punctuation, into a practical arrangement.

Encoding is used in contexts such as computation, data storage and transmitting data.

Early binary forms of encoding include Braille, International maritime sailing flags and Morse code in which information is supplied though characters in the form of tactile and audio communication.
