What is digital marketing

When arts meets science and it's done right you get companies like Google.

By Vinod

Digital marketing is the act of marketing using digital media.

Originally digital marketing started as simply as things like banner ads on websites and marketing content through emails. Now it is a space that widely uses big data analytics, tracking software and other tools in order to be more focused with marketing campaigns.

By being more focused the chances of the campaign being successful is greatly increased.

Art meets science when it comes to applying methodologies such as search engine optimisation and search engine marketing – both of which have become industries in themselves.

How much is spent on digital advertising?

There are many areas of digital marketing, one of which is using social media platforms such as Facebook and Google.

Companies such as Facebook and Google have been extremely successful partly due to their ability to develop marketing income. The size of these companies has made them popular choices for marketing messages as they place ads in front of people.

According to Wikipedia 4.5 trillion ads are served online annually.
