What is convergence?

Convergence is a key concept in technology.

By Vinod

Convergence means the coming together of two or more distinct entities.

In a technology context, the term is applied to several different trends. Broadly it means integrating two or more technologies into a single system.

One of these is the combination of more than one technology in a single device. For example, smartphones represent the convergence of what were previously distinct functions such as telephony and computing.
