Bosch is a multinational engineering and electronics company that produces automotive components and industrial products.

Headquartered in Germany, Bosch is one of the world’s largest suppliers of automotive components. The company also manufactures industrial products such as drives and controls in addition to building products like powers tools and security systems.

The company was founded by Robert Bosch, who started the company in a backyard in Stuttgart-West. A year later, Bosch made the first low voltage magneto for gas motors, followed twenty years later by the first automobile magneto.

From Robert Bosch’s first factory in 1901, the company has grown to include over 440 subsidiary companies, with over 112,300 employees based in Germany alone.

Where do most of its sales come from?

Around 60 percent of the company’s annual sales are produced in automotive technology.

The company also offers divisions in industrial technology, consumer goods and power tools, security systems and mobile phones.

Bosch’s main strategic objective is to deliver innovations for a connected life. The company recently signed a partnership with SAP for Internet of Things and industry 4.0. They are to connect things such as cordless screwdrivers to the internet.

The companies announced they will combine both Bosch’s platform and SAP’s backend software, in order to connect vehicles, manufacturing tools and so on.
