What is Adobe Flash Player?

Adobe Flash Player is a free piece of software designed to play content created on the Adobe Flash program.

Labelled as Shockwave Flash in Firefox and Internet Explorer, Adobe Flash Player is freeware software for using content created on the Adobe Flash program. Content viewable via the Flash Player includes multimedia, streaming video and audio and executing rich internet applications.

As freeware, Flash Player can be downloaded for free and its plug-in is available for every major web browser.

Flash Player executes and displays content from a SWF file, although cannot edit SWF files in runtime.
