In a network context, a hub is a central connecting point where data arrives and is forwarded on in different directions.
Hubs are often used to connect different parts of a local area network (LAN).
It is a basic piece of networking equipment which receives network traffic, or frames, on one port and forwards this traffic to all of the other ports on the network.
