A favicon is type of icon which represents a particular website.
With web browsers that are capable of displaying graphics, the favicon is usually displayed next to the address bar of the browser when the user is accessing the website.
They are also displayed when a user bookmarks a page.
Browsers that are capable of supporting tabs will also show the favicon of a page next to the page’s title on the tab. Site-specific browsers will also show the favicon as a desktop icon.
