It’s all very well holding your jolly bashes like the Telecommunications Managers Association (not Manufacturers as we said yesterday) show out of town in attractive watering holes like Brighton (see page four), but as a large proportion of the attendance comes from London, visitors and organisers soon learn for themselves just what the poor benighted commuters have to put up with: on Monday, just getting to Brighton by train turned into a struggle, and British Rail came up with the ingenious excuse not of wet leaves but a cow on the line; frustrated showgoers speculated that commuters from another stranded train had given up any idea of getting home and fed, and were in process of barbecueing the beast.
