WBS-5800 base station is based on company's beamforming technology and leverages six radios

By CBR Staff Writer

Israel-based Wavion, a provider of services including backhaul, service provisioning and billing, has released a new omni-directional base station in the 5.8GHz band and two sector base stations in the 2.4GHz band and 5.8 GHz band.

According to the company, the new WBS-5800 base station, operating in the 5.8GHz band is expected to provide the same characteristics as the WBS-2400. It is based on the company’s beamforming technology, and leverages six radios using an array of six omni-directional antennas.

The WBS-5800 is said to provide extended range, superior non-line-of-sight coverage, and high throughput to any off-the-shelf standard 802.11a based customer premises equipments.

Wavion will also introduce two sector base stations, WBS-2400 Sector in the 2.4GHz band and WBS-5800 Sector in the 5.8GHz band. Both Sector Base Stations are based on Wavion’s beamforming technology, leveraging three radios using an array of three directional antennas covering a 120 degrees sector.

Tal Meirzon, CEO of Wavion, said: With these new additions to our portfolio, Wavion is able to significantly extend our addressable market and provide our customers with a complete solution that meets their needs. Our powerful, carrier-grade base stations provide operators with the most cost effective solution in the market today in both 2.4GHz and 5.8GHz bands, and provide them with considerable CAPEX and OPEX savings.
