The battle between Unix and Windows NT began even before the delegates arrived at the Santa Cruz Operation’s Forum in Santa Cruz, California last week, courtesy of Virgin Atlantic Airways Ltd and its in-flight entertainment system, Arcadia. The system delivers movies, video games and music channels to personal mini TV screens via a server which has apparently recently been switched from Unix to NT. Much merriment ensued amongst the SCO faithful when passengers en route to the Forum experienced delays in download times, and apocryphal stories of Windows application error screens occurred when SCO executives tried to download Tetris. So much for mission critical applications…
