TYMNET FIRST SYNCHRONOUS X25 SERVICE AT 9,600bps

The Tymnet, McDonnell Douglas Network Systems Co in San Jose, California claims that it has the first-ever public dial-up synchronous access at 9,600bps on an X25 system for its TymDial X25 service in the US. The TymDial X25 service, which is also available at 2,400bps, complements the TymDial X9.6 asynchronous service and uses the CCITT X32 signalling standard for full duplex synchronous communications, and automatically adjusts to the speed of the calling Data Termination Equipment, with fallback speeds of 4,800bps for the high-speed service and 1,200bps for 2,400bps users; it uses Concord Data Systems modems.
