TAIWAN’S MITAC EXPECTS PROFITS TO DOUBLE THIS YEAR

Following an increased demand for personal computer notebooks in Taiwan, one of the country’s top five PC companies has said it is expecting its 1997 fiscal profits to have doubled to $10.9m. Mitac International Corp is also forecasting a 40% rise in revenue to some $633.6m.
