Oracle introduces Solaris 11 Express

Oracle has introduced Solaris 11 Express, to provide network virtualisation and resource management with complete, built-in virtualisation capabilities, and performance virtualisation environment with low overhead.

Oracle Solaris 11 Express powers the Exadata X2-2 and X2-8 Database Machines, and Exalogic Elastic Cloud machine and features an easy-to-use, production-ready package, that allows customers to use the new Solaris features to deploy new applications.

In addition, the new features also reduce planned downtime up to 50%, by eliminating traditional patching and maintenance related reboots and vastly improving system boot time to tens of seconds.
