Japanese NTT Communications has launched webmail and groupware services on its software-as-a-service platform under BizCITY, a suite of enterprise services on an ICT platform that customers can access from anywhere. These services are named Secure ICT Webmail and Secure ICT Groupware.

According to the company, these services will enable enterprise customers to reduce the costs of building and managing information and communication infrastructure, as well as the implementation of related security measures. Services can be used on a project, department, company-wide or group-company basis. Both offer remote access options for secure access to the services when not on corporate networks.

Secure ICT Webmail is expected to provide a browser-based environment equivalent to that of common e-mail client software. Its Ajax-based interface allows users to drag and drop attachments. E-mails are saved on a secure network, so users can access company e-mail from outside the office. Settings can be configured to limit access to intra-company PCs, place a company logo on the login screen, limit the size of downloadable files, share address books and add optional features to filter spam, check for viruses and archive mail.

Secure ICT Groupware provides software-as-a-service (SaaS) platform with an intuitive interface to support collaborative activities, such as scheduling, facility bookings, employee data address books and visitor management. Multiple people can be registered in few seconds with drag-and-drop convenience. Secure ICT Groupware can be used with Secure ICT Webmail with a single login.

Remote access with both services can be customized to meet specific security policies. ID/password protection, one-time password protection and device authentication are supported.

Secure ICT Webmail and Secure ICT Groupware require subscription to either NTT Communications’s Secure ICT over VPN, an internet gateway service, or the Secure Mail over VPN, an e-mail hosting service.
