Juniper Research report author Nitin Bhas said that the take up of CE smart wireless accessories will depend on whether companies succeed in creating accessories that will capture the imagination of the consumer.

"Nevertheless, the multiplicity of potential use cases means that the consumer electronics category represents one of the most important areas in which smart wireless accessories will develop," Bhas added.

The app-enabled smart wearables market is said to have already seen a large number of deployments, particularly in the health and fitness area, which is expected to see growth in adoption of smart watches and smart glasses, the report added.

Bhas concluded that the entry of the companies like Apple and Google into the wearable segment is expected to further drive the adoption of premium wearable devices.
