LinkedIn currently has more than 1 million members in the United Arab Emirates with several million more spread across the region.

"Networking and building trusted business relationships has always been at the heart of successful business in the Middle East," said LinkedIn on a blog. "LinkedIn is built on a like-minded belief in the strength of professional connections and its ability to drive economic and career growth."

As of February 2012 LinkedIn has over 40 million users in the EMEA region alone.

"As a professional with over a decade of experience working in various markets throughout the region, I understand the importance of relationships here," said Ali Matar, a LinkedIn employee in the Middle East. "These are the relationships that will help shape professional brands and unlock business and career opportunities that transcend geographies."

The professional social network has seen successful growth over the past year.

According to LinkedIn, the company’s UK membership has tripled in less than three years. In 2009, the company only had 3 million UK members using the site.

"We are honored to be a part of the growth and connectedness of one of the world’s most important economies," said LinkedIn in a statement.

The UK is currently LinkedIn’s third largest market worldwide following the United States and India.

LinkedIn has had an impressive year with the company’s performance shattering analyst expectations.

LinkedIn reported that the company was up 89% in revenue during its second quarter with $228.2m compared to $121m in the second quarter of 2011.

Their second quarter performance outdid their predicted Q2 revenues of $210m-$215m.
