Facebook has launched new tools for Instagram that enable users to embed photos as well as videos and allow sharing them on other websites, including blogs and news providers.

According to the social networking service, the new tool is designed to maintain privacy settings and is applicable only for content that is already public.

"As always, you own your photos and videos, and we want to make sure that’s understood no matter where your content appears," Facebook said.

"Whether you want to embed your video on your blog or a friend wants to feature your photo on a website, everyone will clearly see that your content belongs to you."

The launch comes amidst Facebook’s efforts to help spread out its reach on mobile devices that are witnessing heavy user traffic.

Rivalling services from Twitter and other firms, Facebook launched a new service known as ‘Video on Instagram’, which enables users to record up to 15 seconds of video and upload onto its network.
