Oracle releases extension of Application Development Framework for iOS, Android

The new release is part of Oracle Fusion Middleware

By CBR Staff Writer

Oracle has released the extension of its Application Development Framework (ADF) which will enable Java developers to build mobile applications for multiple platforms, including Apple’s iOS and Android.

The new release, known as ADF Mobile, is a HTML5 and Java-based framework which is part of Oracle Fusion Middleware.

With ADF Mobile, developers can work on consistent cross-platform interfaces using web technologies such as HTML5, JavaScript and CSS.

ADF Mobile also includes support for native device services such as camera, GPS, and contacts, and a Java virtual machine is also embedded to support the application logic written in Java.

Oracle application development tools vice president Chris Tonas said with ADF Mobile, developers can reduce the time spent on re-writing code and devote more time building the most advanced enterprise mobile applications.

"Oracle ADF Mobile is tightly integrated with the Oracle Fusion Middleware product portfolio, supports Oracle Fusion Applications, and can easily integrate non-Oracle-based applications," Tonas said.

"With a rich, visual and declarative programming model, Oracle ADF Mobile helps developers increase their productivity and deliver applications faster – you write applications once and deploy on multiple mobile platforms, including iOS and Android," added Tonas.
