Nokia expands mobile phones portfolio with two new devices

Both the devices will ship in the fourth quarter of this year

Finnish handset manufacturer, Nokia, has expanded its mobile phones portfolio with two new devices which include the company’s Slam feature.

The new devices, Nokia Asha 205 and Nokia 206, will be available in single SIM or dual SIM versions.

The Nokia Asha 205 features a QWERTY keyboard, a Facebook button and eBuddy screen notifications.

The Nokia Asha 205 comes with pre-installed apps like eBuddy Chat, Twitter and support for email accounts such as Gmail.

Nokia 206 features a 2.4-inch display, 1.3-megapixels camera and comes with pre-installed apps like eBuddy Chat, WhatsApp.

Nokia executive vice president of mobile phones, Timo Toikkanen said, "The latest Nokia devices give super-social consumers new ways to express their personalities through design, color and innovative new features like Slam."

The mobile maker said that the new devices will use Nokia Xpress Internet platform, which utilises its cloud technology to reduce data consumption by about 90%.

Both the devices will cost about $62 and are anticipated to begin shipping in the fourth quarter of this year.

Earlier this month, Nokia had introduced a new location services ‘Here’, which claims to deliver quality maps and location experiences across multiple screens and operating systems.

Nokia had reported sales of €7.42bn, down 17% from €8.98bn this quarter a year ago.
