Now with former Kaleida Labs boss Michael Braun at the helm as president and chief executive, Neuron Data Inc, Mountain View, California, says it is now shipping version 2.0 of its Elements Environment application development system, announced back in March (CI No 2,867). The 10-year-old, $25m company recently won $6m funding from a group of investors lead by Morgan Stanley and moved its founders aside to make way for Braun. The company started life as an expert systems house and retrenched to distributed application development in C++ and now Java. It claims Forte Software Inc and Dynasty Technologies are the main rivals to its $9,600 per developer three-tier application development system. It says it has 25,000 installed developer users. Its prior capitalization included $275,000 of seed funding in 1988, $3m venture cash in 1990.
