Pellucid Inc, a company formed by a group of founders and engineers from Silicon Graphics Inc, which has been developing low cost, high quality, workstation-type graphics for personal computers, has been acquired by Fremont, California-based Media Vision Inc for 584,025 new shares worth about $15m, and will issue options for 104,193 further shares to employees and consultants of Pellucid in exchange for their Pellucid options. Pellucid, as a wholly-owned subsidiary, will be the foundation of Media Vision’s newly formed Visual Technology Group. Its technology will be offered both as graphics accelerator products and integrated with Media Vision’s existing technology to provide new digital video products for personal computers. First products, add-in boards to go through traditional computer retail channels, are expected out this summer, with OEM products to follow.
