Metta, a privately held company with operations in Pune, India, develops so called multimedia system-on-chip technology and software for consumer electronics products like high definition DVD players and set-top boxes.
LSI, whose broad product portfolio covers integrated circuits, RAID adapters and storage technology, said that Metta’s products would help to sharpen its focus on developing feature-rich capabilities for new digital video products emerging on the market.
All 60 of Metta’s employees have been retained. They join LSI’s Consumer products division.
The deal has already closed and is not expected to have a material impact on LSI’s operations going forward.
LSI is headquartered in Milpitas, California.
